Ingredients

1 cup (227g) unsalted butter, softened

ยฝ cup (65g) powdered sugar

1ยฝ cups (195g) all-purpose flour

ยผ cup (30g) cornstarch

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Optional: powdered sugar for dusting


Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and powdered sugar until very light and fluffy (3โ€“5 minutes).
  2. Add vanilla extract and mix to combine.
  3. Sift together flour and cornstarch in a separate bowl.
  4. Gradually beat dry ingredients into the butter mixture until a soft dough forms.
  5. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip, or roll into balls and flatten with a fork.
  6. Pipe or shape cookies onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Chill the tray of cookies for 15โ€“20 minutes to help them hold their shape.
  8. Preheat oven to 300ยฐF (150ยฐC).
  9. Bake cookies for 15โ€“18 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
  10. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet, then dust with powdered sugar if desired.
