Description
Miso Glazed Cod is a stunning yet easy dish featuring tender cod fillets brushed with a flavorful miso-based glaze. Perfectly seared or broiled, this fish recipe delivers a caramelized finish and deep umami flavors ideal for an elegant dinner or quick weeknight meal.
Ingredients
2 cod fillets
3 tablespoons white miso paste
2 tablespoons mirin
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar or honey
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon chopped green onions (for garnish)
1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
1. In a small bowl, whisk together miso paste, mirin, soy sauce, brown sugar (or honey), sesame oil, ginger, and garlic until smooth.
2. Pat the cod fillets dry with paper towels.
3. Coat the top of each fillet evenly with the miso glaze using a spoon or brush.
4. Let the cod sit for 15 minutes to marinate while heating your pan or oven.
5. Heat a non-stick or cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Sear cod glazed-side down for 2–3 minutes until caramelized. Flip and cook 2–3 minutes more.
6. Alternatively, bake the cod at 400°F for 10–12 minutes and broil for 1–2 minutes to finish.
7. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
Always pat cod fillets dry to help the glaze stick and caramelize properly.
Use white miso for a milder, slightly sweet flavor that doesn’t overpower the fish.
If broiling, watch closely during the final 1–2 minutes to avoid burning the glaze.
