Ingredients

1 package kunafa dough shredded and thawed

1 cup unsalted butter melted

1 cup granulated sugar

3/4 cup water

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon rose water or orange blossom water

1 cup heavy cream

8 ounces cream cheese softened

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1 cup chopped pistachios


Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a muffin tin.

2. Separate the kunafa strands gently using your hands.

3. Pour melted butter over the kunafa and toss until fully coated.

4. Press portions of the buttered kunafa into muffin tin cavities to form nests with hollow centers.

5. Bake for 18 to 22 minutes until deeply golden and crisp.

6. While baking, combine granulated sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat.

7. Stir until sugar dissolves, then simmer for 8 to 10 minutes.

8. Add lemon juice and rose water or orange blossom water, then let the syrup cool completely.

9. Remove the baked nests from the oven and spoon cooled syrup evenly over them.

10. Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and heavy cream together until fluffy and smooth.

11. Pipe or spoon the cream mixture into the center of each cooled nest.

12. Sprinkle generously with chopped pistachios before serving.

Notes

Use cooled syrup on hot kunafa for the best crispy texture.

Do not overfill the muffin tin cavities or the nests may lose their shape.

For extra flavor, lightly toast the pistachios before adding them on top.
