Ingredients

12 ounces penne pasta

1 pound ground beef

3 tablespoons butter

1 tablespoon olive oil

5 cloves garlic minced

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

1/4 cup reserved pasta water

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley


Instructions

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the penne pasta until al dente. Reserve 1 cup pasta water before draining.

2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the ground beef until browned.

3. Reduce heat to medium and add butter and minced garlic to the skillet. Stir for 1 minute until fragrant.

4. Add Italian seasoning, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix thoroughly.

5. Add the cooked pasta into the skillet and toss to coat evenly.

6. Stir in parmesan cheese and reserved pasta water until a silky sauce forms.

7. Garnish with parsley and additional parmesan before serving.

Notes

Use freshly grated parmesan for the smoothest sauce texture.

Do not overcook the pasta because it will continue absorbing sauce in the skillet.

Reserve extra pasta water in case the sauce needs loosening while reheating.
