Description
Creamy, tangy, and slightly sweet, this homemade Thousand Island Dressing is a versatile condiment perfect for salads, sandwiches, burgers, and dipping. With just a few pantry staples, you can whip up a fresher, more flavorful version than anything store-bought.
Ingredients
1 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
2 teaspoons white vinegar
2 teaspoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon finely minced onion
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise and ketchup. Whisk until smooth and fully blended.
2. Stir in the sweet pickle relish, white vinegar, and granulated sugar. Mix until the sugar is dissolved.
3. Add the minced onion and garlic powder, stirring until well incorporated.
4. Season with salt and black pepper. Whisk again and taste to adjust seasoning if needed.
5. Transfer the dressing into a glass jar or airtight container. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
For a chunky texture, avoid over-whisking after adding relish and onions.
Make it spicier with a dash of hot sauce or horseradish.
Best flavor develops after at least 1 hour of refrigeration.
