  • Author: Olivia McKenney
  • Total Time: 2 hours 30 minutes
  • Yield: About 20 rolls

Description

Soft, golden, and irresistibly buttery, these Texas Roadhouse Rolls are a restaurant-style favorite you can recreate at home. Perfect with honey cinnamon butter or a hearty dinner, they rise fluffy and bake to a beautiful shine.

Ingredients

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

1/4 cup warm water (110°F)

1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 egg

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (plus more for brushing)

3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, milk, and sugar in a bowl. Sprinkle in yeast and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix in egg, melted butter, and salt. Gradually add flour one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours or until doubled.
  5. Punch down dough and roll out to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into squares and place on a greased baking sheet.
  6. Cover and let rolls rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Brush with melted butter while still warm.
