Description

Golden, cheesy Tennessee Onions are the perfect Southern-inspired side dish. Sweet onions baked in butter and smothered with a rich layer of melty cheddar, mozzarella, and Monterey Jack cheeses create a flavorful, crowd-pleasing bite with minimal effort.


Ingredients

Sweet Onions (Vidalia preferred)

Butter

Cheddar Cheese, shredded

Mozzarella Cheese, shredded

Monterey Jack Cheese, shredded

Garlic Powder

Salt

Black Pepper

Fresh Parsley (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and slice sweet onions into 1/2-inch thick rounds. Separate into rings.
  3. Layer onions in a buttered 9×13 baking dish.
  4. Season evenly with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Dot with butter across the onion layers.
  6. Top with cheese, sprinkling cheddar, mozzarella, and Monterey Jack generously.
  7. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes or until onions are tender and cheese is golden and bubbly.
  8. Optional: Broil for 2–3 minutes at the end for extra browning.
  9. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.
