  • Author: Olivia McKenney
  • Total Time: 30–40 minutes
  • Yield: 1.5 cups

Description

These Spicy Smoky Roasted Chickpeas are the ultimate crunchy snack—healthy, bold, and so easy to make. Perfect for salads, bowls, or straight from the baking sheet!

Ingredients

1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon chili powder

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas thoroughly.

2. Spread them on a clean kitchen towel and pat completely dry.

3. Preheat the oven to 400°F (or air fryer to 390°F).

4. In a bowl, toss the chickpeas with olive oil, smoked paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.

5. Spread the seasoned chickpeas in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet or in your air fryer basket.

6. Roast in the oven for 20–30 minutes or air fry for about 15 minutes, stirring or shaking halfway through.

7. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving. They will crisp up more as they cool.

8. Store in an airtight container once cooled.

Notes

Make sure to dry chickpeas thoroughly—moisture is the enemy of crunch.

For added heat, sprinkle a pinch of cayenne or crushed red pepper.

To revive any lost crispiness, reheat in the oven at 350°F for 5–7 minutes.
