Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 medium carrots, diced
1 cup green beans or peas
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 cup beef stock or broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water (optional)
Instructions
1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and sauté until softened and fragrant.
2. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up, until browned and no longer pink.
3. Stir in the diced carrots and green beans or peas. Cook for a few minutes until slightly softened.
4. Add tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and beef stock. Stir well to combine.
5. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10–15 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
6. If the mixture is too watery, stir in the cornstarch slurry and simmer for 2–3 more minutes until thickened.
7. Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed. Serve hot over your favorite base.
Notes
Use a lid during simmering to retain moisture and enhance flavor.
For extra depth, add a splash of red wine while building the sauce.
Leftovers taste even better the next day after the flavors deepen.
