Ingredients
8 ounces ground breakfast sausage
8 large eggs
2 cups whole milk
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and crumbled. Drain excess grease and set aside.
3. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs and milk until smooth. Stir in salt, pepper, and any optional seasonings.
4. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
5. Spread the cooked sausage evenly across the bottom of the dish.
6. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top of the sausage.
7. Pour the egg mixture over the sausage and cheese, ensuring full coverage.
8. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is lightly golden.
9. Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Let the casserole cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing to help it set.
If preparing ahead of time, refrigerate overnight and bake in the morning.
For extra richness, use half-and-half instead of milk.
