Ingredients
2 large Honeycrisp apples
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 pie dough (homemade or store-bought)
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
1 tablespoon coarse sugar (turbinado)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Peel, core, and thinly slice the Honeycrisp apples.
3. In a bowl, toss apple slices with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and flour.
4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out pie dough into a 12-inch round and transfer to the baking sheet.
5. Arrange apple slices in a circular pattern, leaving a 2-inch border.
6. Fold the edges of the dough over the apples, pleating as needed.
7. Brush crust with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
8. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until crust is golden and filling is bubbling.
9. Cool slightly before serving warm or at room temperature.
