Description
Golden, crusty, and infused with rosemary and garlic, this skillet bread delivers bakery-style flavor with minimal effort. No kneading needed, just mix, rise, and bake! Perfect for pairing with soups, pastas, or simply dipped in olive oil.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) instant yeast
1 cup warm water
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
1 teaspoon coarse sea salt (for topping)
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, combine flour, yeast, and salt. Stir in warm water and olive oil until a sticky dough forms.
2. Cover with plastic wrap or a towel. Let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
3. Grease a cast iron skillet with olive oil. Transfer dough into skillet and gently press it to spread evenly.
4. Cover skillet loosely and let rest for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
5. Dimple the dough with your fingers. Drizzle olive oil on top, then sprinkle with minced garlic, rosemary, and coarse sea salt.
6. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the top is golden and edges are crisp.
7. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
Notes
For crispier edges, use a well-seasoned cast iron skillet.
Letting the dough rest a second time in the skillet enhances fluffiness.
Add cheese on top before baking for a delicious cheesy crust.
