Description
These Plum & Cheese Puff Pastry Tarts are a stunning balance of creamy, fruity, and crisp. Ripe plums and tangy cream cheese rest on golden puff pastry, perfect for brunch, tea time, or dessert. They’re easy to prep, bake quickly, and look gorgeous on any table.
Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
2 fresh plums, thinly sliced
4 oz cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp powdered sugar (optional)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Fresh thyme or microgreens, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Cut thawed puff pastry into 4–6 squares. Score a ½-inch border inside each square.
3. In a bowl, mix cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
4. Spread a tablespoon of the cheese mixture in the center of each scored square.
5. Top each with 2–3 thin plum slices. Do not overload to avoid soggy pastry.
6. Brush pastry edges with beaten egg.
7. Bake for 18–22 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
8. Let cool slightly on a wire rack.
9. Garnish with thyme, microgreens, or a drizzle of honey if desired.
10. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Use regular (block) cream cheese for the best texture when baked.
Scoring the puff pastry border helps it puff and creates a perfect edge.
For a more savory twist, skip the powdered sugar and add a sprinkle of goat cheese.
