Description
This creamy, savory Chicken and Stuffing Casserole brings classic comfort to your table in under an hour. Made with tender chicken, herb-seasoned stuffing, and a rich, buttery topping, it’s the perfect all-in-one bake for cozy family dinners or make-ahead meals.
Ingredients
2 ½ cups cooked chicken, shredded or cubed
1 box stuffing mix (about 6 ounces)
1 can cream of chicken soup (10.5 ounces)
1 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
¾ cup chicken broth
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
½ cup diced onion (optional)
½ cup chopped celery (optional)
½ teaspoon dried sage
½ teaspoon dried thyme
1 tablespoon chopped fresh or dried parsley
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. In a skillet, sauté onion and celery in a bit of butter until softened (if using).
3. In a large bowl, mix together the cream of chicken soup, sour cream, chicken broth, cooked chicken, and sautéed vegetables.
4. Spread this creamy chicken mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
5. In a separate bowl, prepare the stuffing mix using hot chicken broth. Let it absorb for a few minutes until fluffy.
6. Gently spoon the stuffing over the chicken layer without pressing down.
7. Drizzle melted butter over the top to help it crisp up.
8. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. If the top browns too quickly, tent with foil midway.
9. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Don’t over-compress the stuffing layer—it needs air to stay fluffy on top.
You can swap the chicken for leftover turkey, especially around the holidays.
Add cheese or mushrooms between layers for an extra boost of flavor.
