Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 large egg
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp butter
8 oz mushrooms, sliced (baby bella or cremini)
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/4 cup heavy cream (optional)
Instructions
1. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, onion, parsley, salt, and pepper until just combined. Form into 1–1.5 inch meatballs.
2. Heat olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a skillet. Brown meatballs on all sides. Remove and set aside.
3. Add remaining butter and mushrooms to the pan. Sauté until browned and soft.
4. Sprinkle flour over mushrooms and stir for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in beef broth.
5. Add Worcestershire sauce and thyme. Simmer until thickened.
6. Return meatballs to the skillet. Simmer gently for 15–20 minutes until fully cooked.
7. Stir in heavy cream if using. Simmer 2–3 more minutes until creamy and heated through.
Notes
Don’t overwork the meat mixture—just mix until combined for tender meatballs.
Use fresh mushrooms for the best flavor; avoid canned varieties for this dish.
Add heavy cream at the end to avoid curdling or breaking the sauce.
