Description
These Homemade Dinner Rolls are soft, buttery, and perfectly golden—ideal for any occasion from holiday dinners to cozy weeknight meals. They’re easy to make and versatile enough to pair with savory mains or sweet spreads.
Ingredients
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup whole milk, warmed
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (plus more for brushing)
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Warm the milk to about 110°F and stir in the sugar and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. In a stand mixer bowl, add the yeast mixture, eggs, melted butter, salt, and 2 cups of flour. Mix on low using the dough hook.
3. Gradually add remaining flour until a soft dough forms. Continue kneading with the hook for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
4. Transfer dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled.
5. Punch down the dough and divide into 15–18 equal pieces. Roll each into a ball and place in a greased baking dish.
6. Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes until puffy.
7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake rolls for 15–18 minutes until golden on top.
8. Remove and brush immediately with melted butter. Serve warm or store once cooled.
Notes
Let the milk cool slightly before adding yeast—too hot can kill the yeast.
For a richer taste, use half heavy cream and half milk.
To make ahead, refrigerate the shaped rolls overnight and bake the next day.
