Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
3 cups Yukon Gold potatoes thinly sliced
1 small onion finely chopped
2 cloves garlic minced
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon parsley chopped optional
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13 casserole dish
2. Cook ground beef with chopped onion in a skillet over medium heat until browned then drain excess fat
3. Add minced garlic salt pepper and paprika and cook for one minute
4. In a saucepan melt butter then stir in milk and heavy cream and heat until warm
5. Layer thinly sliced potatoes in the casserole dish
6. Add a layer of cooked beef mixture
7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and drizzle some cream mixture
8. Repeat layers until ingredients are used finishing with cheese on top
9. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes
10. Remove foil and bake another 15 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly
11. Allow casserole to rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving
Notes
Slice potatoes evenly about 1/8 inch thick so they cook at the same rate
Mix Monterey Jack or mozzarella with cheddar for extra flavor
