Garlic Chicken Lo Mein is a savory stir-fried noodle dish featuring juicy chicken pieces, vibrant vegetables, and chewy noodles tossed in a rich, garlicky soy-based sauce. This quick and flavorful recipe is perfect for satisfying takeout cravings at home while using fresh, wholesome ingredients.


Ingredients

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces

8 oz lo mein noodles (or spaghetti)

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 cup broccoli florets

1 medium carrot, julienned

1/2 cup sliced bell pepper (optional)

1/2 cup sliced onions

2 green onions, chopped

1 tablespoon minced garlic

1/2 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced (optional)

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 tablespoon hoisin sauce

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon sugar

1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (slurry)

Salt and black pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Boil water and cook noodles according to package directions. Drain, rinse with cold water, and toss with sesame oil.
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and cornstarch slurry.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  4. Add chicken pieces, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned and fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
  5. Add remaining oil to the skillet. Stir-fry onions, garlic, and ginger for 30 seconds.
  6. Add broccoli, carrots, and bell peppers. Cook until just tender.
  7. Return chicken to the skillet, then add noodles and pour in the sauce.
  8. Toss everything together and stir-fry until evenly coated and heated through.
  9. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.
