Description

Ingredients

1 lb fresh green beans

8 oz cremini or baby bella mushrooms, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp unsalted butter

1 tbsp olive oil

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)


Instructions

1. Trim the green beans and slice the mushrooms. Mince the garlic finely.

2. (Optional) Lightly steam green beans for 2-3 minutes for a more tender texture.

3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add mushrooms and sauté until browned and tender, about 6-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.

4. In the same pan, lower the heat to medium-low. Add butter and minced garlic. Stir for 30 seconds until fragrant.

5. Add green beans and sauté for 5-7 minutes until tender-crisp.

6. Return mushrooms to the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Toss to combine.

7. Cook for 1-2 more minutes, then serve warm.

Notes

Don’t overcrowd the pan when cooking mushrooms; they need space to brown, not steam.

For extra depth, add a splash of balsamic vinegar before serving.

If using salted butter, reduce the added salt slightly.
