Instructions
- In a medium bowl, mix softened cream cheese with vanilla extract and lemon zest (if using) until smooth.
- Spread cream cheese mixture on one slice of bread, strawberry preserves on another, and press together to form a sandwich.
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Fry sandwiches until golden brown on both sides, 2–3 minutes per side.
- Remove from skillet and place on a paper towel to drain. Let cool slightly.
- Dust with powdered sugar, slice in half, and serve warm.
