Description
A classic Southern comfort dish combining sausage, rice, and vegetables in a rich blend of spices for a quick and satisfying one-pot meal.
Ingredients
1 pound ground sausage (hot or mild)
1 cup long grain white rice
1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 green bell pepper, diced
1/2 red bell pepper, diced
1 celery stalk, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 cups chicken broth
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
1/2 cup frozen green peas (optional)
Instructions
- Cook sausage over medium heat until browned; drain excess fat.
- Add onion, bell peppers, celery; sauté until soft. Stir in garlic.
- Add rice and all seasonings. Pour in chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to boil.
- Cover and simmer on low heat for 20–25 minutes.
- Stir in peas (if using) during last 5 minutes.
- Fluff with fork, adjust seasoning, and serve hot.
