Description
This Italian Herb and Cheese Bread is an irresistible, cheesy, pull-apart treat. Infused with garlic and aromatic herbs, it features a golden crust and a pillowy center. Perfect as an appetizer, side, or snack.
Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp olive oil
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
1 tsp chopped fresh oregano (or 1/3 tsp dried)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add olive oil, salt, and half of the flour. Stir to combine.
- Gradually add the rest of the flour and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic (6-8 minutes).
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and shape into a rectangle or divide into smaller rolls.
- Place in a greased baking dish and top with garlic, mozzarella, parmesan, parsley, and oregano.
- Let rise again for 20-30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with extra herbs if desired.
