Delicious Italian Herb and Cheese Bread

Description

This Italian Herb and Cheese Bread is an irresistible, cheesy, pull-apart treat. Infused with garlic and aromatic herbs, it features a golden crust and a pillowy center. Perfect as an appetizer, side, or snack.


Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)

2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp salt

2 tbsp olive oil

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

1 tsp chopped fresh oregano (or 1/3 tsp dried)


Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add olive oil, salt, and half of the flour. Stir to combine.
  3. Gradually add the rest of the flour and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic (6-8 minutes).
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough and shape into a rectangle or divide into smaller rolls.
  6. Place in a greased baking dish and top with garlic, mozzarella, parmesan, parsley, and oregano.
  7. Let rise again for 20-30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with extra herbs if desired.
