Description
This Decadent Caramel Cake is a luxurious layered dessert made with rich caramel buttercream, moist golden cake, and a cascade of caramel drizzle. Perfect for special occasions, it’s as beautiful as it is indulgent.
Ingredients
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup brown sugar, packed
4 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup buttermilk
½ cup caramel sauce (plus more for drizzling)
1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
½ cup heavy cream (for frosting)
1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 8 or 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with dry.
6. Gently fold in ½ cup caramel sauce.
7. Divide batter evenly into pans. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool on wire racks.
8. For frosting, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and heavy cream. Mix in caramel sauce until fluffy.
9. Level cake layers if needed. Frost between layers and around cake. Decorate with whipped cream, caramel drizzle, and candy pieces.
Notes
Use room-temperature ingredients for best mixing and even baking.
Don’t overmix once the flour is added—stop as soon as it’s combined.
Chill the cake before slicing to get cleaner, more defined layers.
