This Crispy Honey Garlic Tofu recipe delivers bold flavor and amazing texture in every bite. With its golden, crunchy coating and sweet-savory glaze, this dish is a perfect weeknight dinner or plant-based crowd-pleaser. It’s quick to make and seriously addictive!
Ingredients
14 oz firm tofu
3 tablespoons cornstarch
3 tablespoons neutral oil (like canola or avocado oil)
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons honey
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
2 green onions, sliced (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
1. Drain and press tofu for 20 minutes to remove moisture. Cut into bite-sized cubes.
2. Toss tofu in a bowl with cornstarch until evenly coated.
3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry tofu in a single layer, turning each side until golden brown (2-3 minutes per side). Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
4. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, garlic, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened.
5. Return tofu to skillet, pour sauce over it, and toss gently to coat. Let simmer until glossy and sticky.
6. Serve hot over rice, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.
Notes
For extra crispiness, let the tofu sit for a minute before turning each side.
Air fry instead of pan-fry for a lighter version.
The sauce can be made in advance and stored in the fridge for 1 week.
