Whether you’re planning an easy dinner, need a last-minute potluck dish, or are looking for new dinner ideas, this easy recipe hits the spot for both casual meals and festive feasts. Perfect for foodies looking for healthy snack upgrades or flavorful veggie side dish inspiration.

Ingredients

1 pound fresh green beans

6 slices bacon, chopped

3 tablespoons brown sugar

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons butter

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

1. Fry the chopped bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Set aside.

2. Blanch the green beans in salted boiling water for 3–4 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Transfer to an ice bath, then pat dry.

3. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in brown sugar and soy sauce, letting the glaze simmer for 2–3 minutes.

4. Add the green beans to the skillet. Toss to coat in the glaze and cook for 3–5 minutes, stirring gently.

5. Stir in the cooked bacon and toss everything together.

6. Serve hot and sprinkle with red pepper flakes if desired.

Notes

For best texture, don’t skip the blanching—it keeps the beans crisp and green.

Use thick-cut bacon for extra crunch and deeper flavor.

Want to prep ahead? Blanch the beans and cook the bacon in advance, then reheat everything before serving.
