Description

This Chocolate Toffee Trifle is the ultimate crowd-pleasing dessert. With layers of fudgy brownies, creamy chocolate pudding, whipped topping, and buttery toffee bits, it’s as rich as it is stunning. Whether you’re prepping for a holiday table or want a quick no-fuss dessert idea, this trifle is a perfect make-ahead option. It checks all the boxes: easy recipe, delicious food idea, and a guaranteed favorite among both kids and adults. Add it to your list of go-to dinner ideas, sweet snacks, or special occasion treats.

Ingredients

1 box brownies, baked and cooled

2 packages (3.9 oz each) instant chocolate pudding mix

4 cups cold milk

2 tubs (8 oz each) whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed

1 ½ cups toffee bits or crushed toffee bars

1 cup mini peanut butter cups (optional)

½ cup caramel sauce (optional)

Instructions

1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the pudding mixes with the cold milk until thickened. Let it chill for 10 minutes in the refrigerator.

2. Cut the baked and cooled brownies into small, bite-sized squares.

3. In a trifle dish, create your first layer: add brownie cubes to cover the bottom.

4. Spoon a generous layer of chocolate pudding over the brownies.

5. Add a layer of whipped topping, spreading evenly with a spatula.

6. Sprinkle toffee bits generously over the whipped layer.

7. Repeat the layering process—brownies, pudding, whipped topping, and toffee—until the dish is full.

8. On the final layer, top with extra toffee bits and optional peanut butter cups or a drizzle of caramel for extra flair.

9. Cover and chill the trifle for at least 2 hours before serving. Serve cold with a long spoon.

Notes

For best flavor, make the trifle a day in advance—it allows the layers to meld perfectly.

Use homemade whipped cream if preferred; just be sure to whip to stiff peaks.

You can swap brownies for chocolate cake or even crushed chocolate cookies.
