Ingredients
1 prepared 9-inch pie crust, baked and cooled
1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
1 package (3.9 oz) instant chocolate pudding mix
1 1/2 cups cold milk
1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping, divided
8 to 10 maraschino cherries
2 tablespoons chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Prepare your pie crust as directed and allow it to cool completely.
2. Spoon the cherry pie filling into the cooled crust and spread evenly.
3. In a bowl, whisk together chocolate pudding mix and cold milk until thickened.
4. Fold in half of the whipped topping to create a mousse texture.
5. Spread the chocolate mousse evenly over the cherry layer.
6. Top with the remaining whipped topping, spreading gently into soft peaks.
7. Decorate with maraschino cherries and sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
8. Chill the pie for at least 2 hours before serving for best texture.
Notes
For clean slices, dip your knife in hot water and wipe between each cut.
Let the pie chill overnight for the best structure and flavor development.
You can use stabilized whipped cream instead of whipped topping for a more homemade touch.
