Ingredients
14 oz smoked sausage, sliced
1 cup white rice (uncooked)
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
1 small onion, diced
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Fresh chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the sausage slices on both sides. Remove and set aside.
- Melt butter in the same skillet. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in rice, garlic powder, black pepper, and chicken broth. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-18 minutes or until rice is cooked and liquid is absorbed.
- Add sausage back into the skillet and stir to combine.
- Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the top, cover, and let melt for a few minutes.
- Remove from heat, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve warm.
