Description

This Cheesy Sausage and Rice recipe is the ultimate one-skillet comfort meal. Loaded with smoky sausage, fluffy rice, and melted cheddar cheese, it’s both hearty and hassle-free. Perfect for busy weeknights or when you want something warm and satisfying on the table fast.


Ingredients

14 oz smoked sausage, sliced

1 cup white rice (uncooked)

1 1/2 cups chicken broth

1 small onion, diced

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

2 tablespoons butter

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Fresh chopped parsley for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the sausage slices on both sides. Remove and set aside.
  2. Melt butter in the same skillet. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in rice, garlic powder, black pepper, and chicken broth. Bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-18 minutes or until rice is cooked and liquid is absorbed.
  5. Add sausage back into the skillet and stir to combine.
  6. Sprinkle cheddar cheese over the top, cover, and let melt for a few minutes.
  7. Remove from heat, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve warm.
