Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
12 ounces rotini pasta
1 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
15 ounces tomato sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
3. Add chopped onion and garlic to the skillet. Cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
4. Stir in ketchup, mustard, and tomato sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes to blend flavors.
5. Meanwhile, boil rotini pasta in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
6. Combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce and mix thoroughly.
7. Transfer mixture to a greased 9×13 casserole dish.
8. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
9. Bake uncovered for 15–20 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
10. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For added depth, try using a mix of cheddar and mozzarella or a smoked cheese variety.
Undercook the pasta slightly to prevent over-softening during baking.
This dish can be assembled a day ahead and baked just before serving.
