Description

Ingredients
30 pearl onions 1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
¾ cup buttermilk
1 egg
4 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
½ cup buttermilk ranch dip (for serving)
Instructions
1. Peel the pearl onions and make four to six shallow cuts from top to bottom, keeping the root intact.
Gently separate the petals.
In a bowl, whisk flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
In another bowl, whisk buttermilk and egg until smooth.
Dip each onion into the buttermilk mixture, then dredge in the flour mixture, making sure all crevices are coated.
Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
Fry onions in small batches for 2-3 minutes until golden.
Remove with a slotted spoon, drain on a wire rack over paper towels.
Serve warm with buttermilk ranch dip.
