Description

Ingredients

1 can refrigerated biscuits

1 pound breakfast sausage

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 1/2 cups whole milk

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 tablespoon butter (optional)


Instructions

1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook sausage until browned and crumbled. Do not drain the fat.

2. Sprinkle flour over sausage and stir to coat. Cook for 1 minute.

3. Gradually whisk in milk and continue stirring until gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper.

4. Preheat oven to 375°F.

5. Pour the sausage gravy into a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread evenly.

6. Cut biscuit dough into halves or quarters and place on top of the gravy.

7. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, until biscuits are golden brown.

8. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For crispier biscuits, avoid overcrowding and bake uncovered.

Make gravy thicker than pourable so the biscuits don’t absorb too much moisture.

Add shredded cheese on top before baking for an extra indulgent twist.
