Description

This Biscuits and Gravy Casserole combines buttery biscuit layers, creamy sausage gravy, and gooey cheddar cheese into one warm, Southern-style breakfast bake. Perfect for weekends, holidays, or potluck brunches, this dish is easy to assemble and satisfies every time.


Ingredients

1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (16 oz)

1 pound pork breakfast sausage

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2 ½ cups whole milk

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

4 large eggs

¼ cup milk (for egg mixture)

1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

2. In a large skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until browned.

3. Sprinkle flour over sausage and stir to coat.

4. Gradually add 2 ½ cups milk, whisking constantly to form gravy. Simmer until thick.

5. Season gravy with salt and pepper.

6. Cut biscuit dough into quarters. Place half in the bottom of the dish.

7. Pour sausage gravy over biscuit layer.

8. In a mixing bowl, whisk eggs with ¼ cup milk, salt, and pepper.

9. Pour egg mixture over gravy.

10. Top with remaining biscuit pieces and sprinkle cheddar cheese on top.

11. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until golden and set in the center.

12. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Let the casserole sit for 5 minutes before slicing to help it hold its shape better.

For extra richness, add a tablespoon of butter to the gravy while simmering.

You can prepare the entire dish the night before and bake it the next morning for easy hosting.
