Description

Looking for a comforting dessert with a unique twist? This Best Vinegar Pie is the answer. It’s a sweet, silky, custard-style pie with a golden crackly top and a tangy depth from a touch of vinegar. A true pantry-friendly dessert perfect for easy baking days, family gatherings, or when you’re craving something nostalgic. Great for quick dessert ideas, easy pie recipes, or old-fashioned food ideas you’ll want to make again and again.

Ingredients

1 cup granulated sugar

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

3 large eggs

1/4 cup melted butter

1 tablespoon white vinegar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 9-inch pie crust (homemade or store-bought)

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

2. Roll out the pie crust and place it in a 9-inch pie dish. Crimp the edges and chill while you prepare the filling.

3. In a bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, and salt.

4. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs until smooth. Add the melted butter, vinegar, and vanilla, then whisk to combine.

5. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, whisking until smooth.

6. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.

7. Bake for 45–50 minutes, until the top is golden and slightly cracked, and the center is just set.

8. Allow the pie to cool at room temperature for at least 1 hour before slicing.

Notes

Use an oven thermometer for accurate temperature—overbaking can curdle the custard.

Let the pie cool completely before slicing for a clean cut.

Apple cider vinegar can be used in place of white vinegar for a fruitier undertone.
